Julie Louise Jones
untjac Press was proud to publish two beautiful picture books by Bulmer Award winning artist Julie Louise Jones. In addition to writing and illustrating Julie works with a variety of materials and techniques including textiles, painting and collage to produce mixed-media pictures of a whimsical and lyrical nature. Her approach to picture making is often narrative. Currently she is incorporating her poetry and written “glimpses” into her work. Images grow out of poems. Pictures or visual imaginings can turn into a snap shot of words.
Inspiration comes from many sources, including her native county of Herefordshire. Julie travels with her sketchbook. She is fascinated by folk tales and stories inherited; passed through generations. These she dips into, savours, and attempts to create from while giving her own twist to the tale.
