Steve Bunn
teve Bunn is a local sportsman who now referees local football matches. He was the head of Health and Safety at the Pozzy where he worked since 1977. He comes from a long line of jam factory workers including his grandmother, Father, Mother, all his three sisters and a couple of brothers.
Steve was a team leader in Fruit Process at the ripe old age of twenty-four when the YTS, youth experience, sent him a pack of school leavers. One of these, a seventeen year old named Bev, was destined to become his wife.
Now that Bev and Steve have been married a few years, the age difference doesn’t matter. But at the time Steve met Bev, he had to put up with a lot of stick. A few at the Pozzy remarked, “You’re wasting her life, baby snatcher.” But Steve and Bev persevered and acceptance came over time.
The day before they got married Steve and Bev were in the canteen and the trade union representative, Roger Powell, go up and banged on the table. There had been a collection taken that raised nearly four hundred quid! That was a lot of money in those days.

People had put their hand in their pocket big time. It fitted out Bev and Steve’s kitchen and the kindness of the Pozzy staff brought tears to their eyes. They were married on the weekend with the whole Pozzy coming down to either the wedding or the reception afterward.
Another big part of Steve’s life, also a part of factory life, was football. For about five years when Just Juice was a part of the factory, the company sponsored a football team and a pitch was built in the field. The team began competing in the Hereford fourth division.
